Pics from Yesterday's Ride

UP UP UP!!!

Beautiful at the top. Almost worth the pain!

So Rob, Mandi, Tim, & I ventured out on a fun little (actually neither) ride yesterday to go explore some of the seldom ridden single track this area has to offer. Oh boy did we see it! Rob has the GPS info but I'd venture to guess it was over 30 miles of off road craziness! We started at the new rec district trails and then headed out over the Colorado River, behind the Baptist Camp, up to Kawunechee Road (gravel & steep), up some more, hit some of Super Dave's trails (which need a little love), up some more, to the Blue Ridge trail (scary steeeeeep and narrow singltrack), to Wolverine more beautiful singletrack, up some more, past tree line which put us on the top of Pulfrey Peaks, then down to Gilsonite and down back to Kawunechee, and home. We ran out of time towards the end since Tim and I had to be to work by 3pm so had to take the road from CR 4 back to our house. Not too much pavement for a 5 hour epic. I think there was about 2,200 ft of elevation gain. Seemed like a lot more!!!

The Big 'N a.k.a. Can you say Eh-pick?!

I've never eaten a donut so fast. And I'm a good donut eater. We just got back from about a 5 hour ride up and over Pulfrey Peaks. I don't even have the energy to type. More later... Now we have to go to work. Oh boy. I pity the coffee drinkers we'll encounter now.

Trail Volunteer Day

About a month ago a trail day was organized and whoever felt like putting in some time to better our trails was welcome to show up and move some logs! I just went for the free lunch (don't tell Janice). There was a pretty good turn out and we accomplished more than was planned. Thanks to everyone who participated. You'll notice in the picture on the far right, Jeremy Kennel wearing his nice work clothes and sandals and worked away anyway!! We think he came planning on a ribbon cutting or something. He'll be a great politician some day!! You rock Jer.

New Rec District Trails

Basically every Monday and Thursday ride has turned into checking out the new progress on the rec trails. Here are some photos...

Tim & Janice have been putting in lots-o-hours on these trails and the word is starting to get out. Several times when we've met in the parking lot for the ride, other cars are there; we have mixed feelings about this. Part of me thinks it's great to have people out there enjoying and checking out the trails we've worked on, and the other part thinks, "these are our trails dang it!" Oh well. Nothing we can do now.
